Who We Are
KD Technical Services is a small IT team in Langley, BC. Since 2010 we've looked after the technology for small businesses across the Fraser Valley and Metro Vancouver — the offices with five to a hundred computers that are too big to wing it and too small to justify an IT department.
Our Story
Ken Dennis started KDTS in 2010 with a straightforward idea: small businesses deserve the same quality of IT as large ones, explained in plain language by people they actually know. Fifteen years on, that's still the whole pitch. Most of our clients have been with us for the better part of a decade, and nearly all of them came to us the same way — a referral from someone we already look after.
We built the company to do good work and to leave room for a life outside of it — which is why we're so keen on things that don't break at 2 a.m. That shows up in how we treat clients: no upsell for its own sake, no jargon, and no pretending a problem is fixed when it isn't. If we say it's fixed, it's fixed. If we say we don't know yet, we mean that too.
How We Work
-
You know who's answering. When you call, you get a person whose name you know — not a queue, not a ticket number read back to you by a robot.
-
Plain language. We explain what's wrong, what it costs to fix, and what happens if you wait. Then you decide.
-
A short list of tools we trust. Every product in our security stack has run across our client base for years. We don't sell what we can't support.
-
Canadian by default. We operate only in Canada, prefer Canadian data residency where the vendor offers it, and will tell you plainly when something routes through the U.S.
-
Straight terms. Our rates, minimums, and agreement are published at kdts.ca/terms. No surprises on the invoice.
Who We Work With
Professional services firms — accountants, lawyers, engineers — along with construction, hospitality, and retail businesses from Burnaby to Abbotsford. Most are on Microsoft 365, many have a server or two, and all of them need it to just work on a Monday morning.
We also look after a growing number of sites that aren't offices at all: farms, job sites, vehicles, and boats. See Remote & Marine.
The People
Ken Dennis — Partner, Remote Support & Administration
Ken founded KDTS and runs the remote side of the business: Microsoft 365 and server administration, security, and the tickets that come in at 8:31 a.m. He's a past president of the Greater Langley Chamber of Commerce and has been part of the Langley business community for as long as the company has existed. Outside of work he's usually fixing something — a furnace, a boat, or a network in a place a network has no business being.
David Barber — Partner, Onsite Technician & Account Management
David is the one who shows up. He handles onsite work, network installs, and cabling — he is the reason your wiring closet looks like a wiring closet and not a bowl of spaghetti — and he's the first call when you're planning a change: a move, new staff, new software, or a nagging worry about security.
The Rest of the Team
Behind Ken and David is a small remote team handling monitoring, maintenance, and the behind-the-scenes work that keeps client environments quiet. You won't hear from them much. That's the point.
